HA NOI (VNS)— Two Vietnamese fishing vessels came to the rescue of nine foreigners yesterday morning, whose ship was stranded about 118 nautical miles off the south-east Vung Tau sea.
The incident was reported by the National Committee for Search and Rescue, while the Malaysia Embassy in Viet Nam later said the rescued were crew members of a Malaysian ship named MT ZAFIRAH.
The ship, carrying four Indonesians and five Burmese, was allegedly pirated when it passed through Vietnamese seas.
Under the request of the committee, a naval rescue ship was bringing the crew members back to Vung Tau last night. — VNS
