DA NANG — Another set of US soldier's remains was repatriated from the central Da Nang City yesterday after joint US-Vietnamese excavation teams worked on nine sites associated with missing Americans.
The repatriation ceremony, the 122nd to take place since the war, was held by the Vietnamese Office for Seeking Missing Persons, and Detachment Two of the US Joint Prisoners of War, Missing in Action Accounting Command at Da Nang International Airport.
The joint team has investigated over 3,500 cases and excavated over 500 sites since September 1988.
There are 1,678 Americans still unaccounted for from the war, including 1,287 expected to be in Viet Nam. — VNS
