Python dies; skin to become souvenirs

Update: March, 20/2012 - 09:59

BAC LIEU — A 100-kg boa-constrictor (python reticulatus) python kept in Bac Lieu Bird Garden in southern Bac Lieu Province for more than a year has died, according to Nguyen Trung Chanh, the garden's director.

The rare snake, which was 5.2-m long and 50-cm in diameter, apparently died from lung cancer. It had refused to eat or drink for many months, said Chanh yesterday.

Garden management has decided to use the snake's skin to make souvenirs for visitors.— VNS
