HCM CITY — Rising tides have caused heavy flooding on some HCM City streets even though the southern region is in its annual dry season.
Nguyen Thi Thap Street in District 7 and Luong Dinh Cua Street in District 2 were under 40cm of water recently. Vehicles stalled, and motorists were forced to push their cars and motorbikes.
Many streets in Binh Thanh, 8, 2, and 7 districts were also flooded, usually between 6pm and 9pm.
Le Thi Xuan Lan of the Southern Region's Hydrometeorology Station said that tides had been unusually high in March, which had not been seen for the last 20 years.
The station said water levels in rivers and canals around the city would be higher in the coming days. — VNS
