Update: February, 27/2012 - 10:07

HCM CITY — HCM City will draw up plans to combat erosion at 62 points caused by flood tides in Sai Gon River, HCM City People's Committee vice chairman Le Minh Tri said.

The municipal Department of Transport has been ordered to speed up construction of embankments currently underway and make plans to inspect erosion at nine of the 29 most vulnerable points.

A tide level of around 1.4m was measured on the river at Phu An station, inundating some low-lying areas. The Flood and Storm Prevention, Search and Rescue Committee has called on district authorities to mobilise personnel and materials to cope with the flooding. — VNS
