HA NOI – The President would bestow Ho Chi Minh and State prizes to the creators of 32 outstanding scientific projects, said Chu Ngoc Anh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology.
In total, 67 projects were submitted for consideration this year. Twelve of the projects will receive Ho Chi Minh prizes, with five given for projects in the social sciences and humanity, three for natural sciences, two for science technology, one for agriculture and one for medicine.
More than half of the projects to receive State prizes are in the social sciences.
In addition to familiar names like Professor Dang Xuan Ky, Professor Tran Quoc Vuong, honourees also include young scientists like Nguyen Tang Cuong of Ninh Binh Province's Quang Trung Mechanical Enterprise.
The award ceremony will be held tomorrow morning at the Ha Noi Opera House and will be broadcast live on VTV1.
Honoured scientists will receive certificates of merit and VND200 million (US$9,500) and VND120 million ($5,700) for the Ho Chi Minh and State prizes, respectively.
The country's highest recognition for scientific research and application are handed out every two years. – VNS
