HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam National Television (VTV) has officially launched a new programme entitled Today on its most popular channel 1.

The programme includes Today’s 5 Minutes; Today Việt Nam; Today World and Today Issue, which follow news and events in Việt Nam and around the world. Today broadcasts at 12:15pm; 5:30pm; 10pm and 10:15pm every day from January 1.

"The series aims to provide the latest news and events to VTV’s viewers," said Nguyễn Thu Hà, deputy head of VTV’s News Department.

"Today doesn’t only present the news, it also has analysis to help the viewers understand what is happening,” Hà said. “Today is a mainstream news channel which is a valuable and reliable source."

Today’s 5 Minutes aims to provide information about social security, traffic safety, occupational safety and other community issues. The 50-minute Today Việt Nam at 5:30pm is a highlight of the new programme. Viewers will meet popular people who are making their contribution to social development.

Today World is contributed by VTV’s correspondents in ten countries. The correspondents will report what is happening in different fields such as politics, the economy, technology, culture and society. Today World will also have odd news to relax the viewers. Today’s Issues is conducted by veteran editors.

The hosts of Today are familiar presenters Mai Ngọc, Hoàng Dương, Tuấn Dương and Ngọc Bích. They are expected to hook the audience and keep them coming back to the show. — VNS
