HCM CITY — Vietnamese-American pop stars Tuấn Ngọc and Thanh Hà will perform in a concert in HCM City next week.

The show The Master of Symphony will offer romantic songs and ballads in praise of youth and love.

Ngọc and Hà will together sing songs written by talented composers such as Trịnh Công Sơn and Ngô Thụy Miên.

They will also appear with younger Vietnamese colleagues Mỹ Tâm and Hà Anh Tuấn, both pop idols among youth.

Ngọc was chosen to perform in a children’s variety radio programme in southern Việt Nam in the 1960s.

He joined several bands, including the Strawberry Four and the Top Five, that performed pop music in the south in the 70s.

After moving to southern California, he became a popular singer in the Vietnamese community, where his style and interpretation of music endeared him to audiences.

He has performed in several solo shows and concerts in HCM City and Hà Nội in recent years.

Singer Hà began her professional career in 1995 after moving to the US.  She is famous in pop and R&B.

She has worked with music producers and entertainment agencies, and performed on more than 80 music videos (MV) and albums.

She has performed in many concerts and music festivals in France, Canada and the US, and worked with Thúy Nga Paris By Night, a music show produced by Thúy Nga Productions in Paris.

Both singers will also perform duo and quartet singing with Tâm and Tuấn, with support from dancers and musicians at the HCM City Music Conservatory.

Tâm, a graduate of HCM City Music Conservatory, has released nine albums, some of which have been bestsellers.

Her latest album, Tâm 9, ranked 10th on Billboard’s World Albums chart in the third week of January, according to sales data compiled by Nielsen Music.

Tuấn studied at the Technische Universitat Darmstadt in Hessen, Germany.

He has released seven albums, including Acous’84, a production of nine R&B songs which helped the singer bring home the Golden Album of the Year presented by HCM City Television in 2010.

Tuấn recently began working as a music producer.

Both singers sing in Vietnamese and English.

The Master of Symphony concert will take place on November 23, 24 and 25 at 8pm at Hòa Bình Theatre on 240 3 Tháng 2 Street in District 10. — VNS
