YÊN BÁI — Some 70 Vietnamese and foreigners will take part in a paragliding festival in the north-western province of Yên Bái from May 18 to 20.

“Flying over Falling Water on Terraced Fields” will be organised at the Khâu Pha Mountain Pass in Mù Cang Chải District.

Participants will have a chance to compare paragliding experiences and techniques, and explore the beauty of the north-western region.

Situated 1,200 metres above sea level, Khâu Pha Pass, 250km from Hà Nội, has imposing mountains and forests covered in mist all year round.

It is one of the longest mountain passes in Việt Nam.

When the rainy season starts in May, visitors can see glittering ponds on terraced fields before local farmers transplant rice seedlings.

The festival is organised by the Vietwings Hà Nội Club and the Yên Bái Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. — VNS
