HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese at home and abroad and expats have been encouraged to send photos to the eighth National Tourism Art Photography Contest, which started yesterday in Hà Nội.

Using the title I Love Việt Nam, the contest promises to provide numerous images reflecting the beauty of Việt Nam and its people.

“The entries will be material for promoting Việt Nam to the world,” said Nguyễn Đức Xuyên, editor-in-chief of the Việt Nam Tourism Review, organiser of the event.

“We hope to receive creative entries representing culture, humanity and landscapes that reflect the wonder of the 5,000 year old nation,” he said.

The National Tourism Art Photography Contest was first held in 1990.

For the first time, the organising board has decided to accept digital submissions and images. They can be sent online to www.anhnghethuatdulich.com.

The winner will receive a gold medal from the Việt Nam Association of Photographic Artists, a cash prize of VNĐ15 million (US$750) and a tour overseas.

The contest will end in June. The award ceremony and exhibition of  photos will be held in Hà Nội in July. — VNS
