Exhibition on spring calendars opens at book street

HCM CITY — Việt Nam’s culture, history and landscapes are major themes of calendars for 2018, which are being showcased at the HCM City Book Pedestrian Street.

The Lịch Xuân 2018 (Spring Calendar 2018) exhibition features block and desk calendars in different sizes published by the city’s leading calendar makers such as An Hảo Company, Nhất Thống Printing and Packaging Company, and Song Hành Advertising and Trade Company.

An Hảo’s block calendars feature explanations and pictures about folk games and tales for children and Vietnamese culture printed on 365 tear-off pages.

The company also presents calendars introducing Vietnamese aromatic herbs and their uses.

Vietnamese heritage and its four seasons are featured in two large block calendars by Song Hành Company.

The dog, which is the symbol of lunar year 2018, also appears on many calendars.

The Nhất Thống Company depicts Vietnamese landscapes and the beauty of the four seasons in their calendars.

Block calendars are sized 25x45cm and 40x60cm and priced from VNĐ240,000-650,000 (US$15-28.6), according to their size, design and material.

For desk calendars, the companies often choose images of the lunar year symbol, flowers and landscapes.

They are priced from VNĐ35,000-120,000 ($1.5-5.3).

Nguyễn Phương Dung, a visitor of the Book Street from District 5 said, “Calendars for 2018 are beautiful and useful. They will be incredible and unique gifts for relatives and friends in hte New Year.”

The exhibition remains open until October 12 at Nguyễn Văn Bình Street in District 1. — VNS
