HÀ NỘI — The 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) will be held in Việt Nam, Japan and Hong Kong (China) from November 25th to December 1st.

The MAMA Week, taking place in three countries in four days, will start in Hòa Bình Theatre in Việt Nam.

“With the knowledge and experience from the past nine years, we will expand MAMA to be Asia’s biggest award ceremony,” said Shin Hyung Kwan, President of Mnet Contents Business.

“We will make 2017 MAMA the greatest festival for everyone who loves music in Asia,” he added.

One of the biggest Kpop music award ceremonies held annually by CJ E&M, a South Korean media company, MAMA features some of the most well-known actors and celebrities, not only in South Korea but also from other countries such as Japan, Indonesia, Việt Nam, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan and the US.

The 2016 MAMA was broadcast in four continents, including Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania, enabling more than two billion people to communicate through various online and mobile platforms. International performers last year included Timbaland, Gallant and Wiz Khalifa.

Vietnamese male singer Noo Phước Thịnh was one of six artists to win the 2016 MAMA’s Best Asian Artist Award.

This year will mark the ninth MAMA, having first begun in 199 entitled the Mnet Video Music Awards, becoming MAMA in 2009. — VNS
