Hội An to facilitate Korean-VN exchange

Korean artists will perform in the historic city of Hội An as part of the 6th Quảng Nam Heritage Festival on June 11 and 12.

HỘI AN — Korean artists will perform in the historic city of Hội An as part of the 6th Quảng Nam Heritage Festival on June 11 and 12.

The city’s Culture and Sports centre said the art troupe of Hahoe Folk village – a UNESCO-recognised world heritage site — will perform mask dances while the Nan-Gye troupe will play traditional musical instruments at An Hội Sculpture Park on the Hoài River bank from 8pm on June 12th

The two art troupes will also provide free performances at the city’s culture exchange centre, No 9 Nguyễn Thái Học Street at 10am and 3pm on June 11 and 12.

Korean artists will demonstrate their traditional musical instruments including string gayageum Korean (zither-like string instrument), geomundo, janggu drum, Phiri and Daegeun flutes.

Vietnamese art troupes from Hội An, Hải Dương, Huế, Phú Thọ and Bình Thuận will also join the cultural exchange performance with ca trù (ceremonial singing); hát xoan (spring singing) đờn ca tài tử (southern folk music) and Vietnamese Royal Court music on June 12.

Hội An, an UNESCO-recognised world heritage site, hosted 2.6 million tourists last year, 50 per cent of them foreigners. — VNS
