Mexican, S Korean pianists to grace City stage

Mexican pianist Gustavo Romero and South Korean pianist Eun Young Joo will present a “The Pianist of Passion” concert at the HCM City Conservatory of Music on June 9.

Mexican pianist Gustavo Romero and South Korean pianist Eun Young Joo will present The Pianist of Passion concert at the HCM City Conservatory of Music on Friday.

The concert will include masterpieces by Debussy, Mozart, Schubert, Granados, Infante and Fazil Say.

Romero began playing piano at the age of 5, and began studying at the Julliard School when he was 14.

He was the winner of international competitions, including Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Switzerland and the Avery Fisher Career Grant.

Joo graduated from the Vienna State Conservatory in Austria in 2000 and earned her master’s degree from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow in 2007.

She won the Erika Chary Foerder Preis and the Allegro Vivo Music Festival in Vienna in 2000 and 2001, respectively.

The concert will begin at 8pm at the conservatory at 112 Nguyễn Du Street in District 1. Tickets are available at the venue. — VNS
