HCM CITY — More than 20 children and teenagers will perform on the catwalk at a charity event tonight (May 31) in HCM City that will raise funds for children with disabilities living at Hướng Dương Shelter.

The models will wear clothing from collections for children created by fashion designers Thuận Việt, Vũ Thu Phương, Nguyễn Minh Quang and Tạ Nguyên Phúc.

The featured designs will be áo dài (Vietnamese dresses) from the latest collection called Truyện Cổ Tích (Vietnamese Fairy Tales) by fashion designer Việt.

The collection includes designs for boys and girls with vivid red and orange colours.

The clothes feature beautiful images featuring popular Vietnamese fairy tales such as Tấm Cám (The Tấm Cám Sisters), Thánh Gióng (Gióng Saint) and Hai Bà Trưng (The Trưng’s Sisters).

The designs use traditional materials of silk and satin.

“My limited collection aims to celebrate Children’s Day. Through my designs, I want to encourage children to dream and imagine a fairy world,” said fashion designer Việt, who has more than 10 years of experience in the industry.

The designer said he had been working with young models from Angel Kids, a private agency in fashion and the catwalk.

Việt and his brandname Thuận Việt became popular after Thùy Lâm of HCM City, in her áo dài, was crowned Miss Universe Việt Nam 2008.

His áo dài collections of embroidered and painted images have helped highlight the beauty of Vietnamese women.

Việt’s designs have been displayed in shows at home and in Korea, France and the US.

He has worked with fashion icons such as Mâu Thủy, winner of Vietnam’s Next Top Model, a Vietnamese version of the American TV show America’s Next Top Model, Miss Tourism Việt Nam 2017 Khánh Ngân, and Miss Universe Việt Nam 2015 Phạm Hương.

The event, Ước Mơ Thiên Thần (Angel Dream), will also include a live music show with performances by young singers Uyên Nhi, Ngọc Lan and Bảo Nghi.

American pop singer Kyo York will join the show.

The event will begin at 8pm tonight ( May 31) at Capella Park View, 3 Đặng Văn Sâm Street, Phú Nhuận District. — VNS
