The Saigon Players, an English-language theatre group, will stage the play Miss Julie by Swedish playwright August Strindberg on April 21-22.

Written in 1888, the play is set on a midsummer night at a manor in Sweden. Miss Julie, whose father is the manor’s owner, is drawn to a senior servant named Jean. They fall in love but their passionate flirtation turns to a precarious end.

The Saigon Players’ version will be directed by Jennifer Dizon Turner, while its music director will be Nguyễn Đỗ Anh Tuấn.

All profits from three shows, one on April 21 and two on the next day, will be donated to Little Rose Shelter, a refuge for young girls who are survivors of or at risk of abuse or trafficking in Việt Nam.

The play will be staged at Soul Convention Complex, 214-216 Pasteur Street in District 3. For reservations and more information, email saigonplayerstickets@gmail.com. — VNS
