Vietnamese literary works to posthumously receive Devotion Awards

Việt Nam Writers’Association will present posthumously Devotion Awards to Vietnamese literary works that have not received either awards from the association, the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations or national arts and literature awards since the beginning of this year.

HÀ NỘI — This year, the Việt Nam Writers’ Association will present posthumous Devotion Awards to Vietnamese literary works that have not received any awards by the association, the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations. 

According to poet Hữu Thỉnh, the chairman of Việt Nam Writers’ Association, Devotion Awards will be granted every five year to works by authors who significantly contributed to the development of the country’s literature.

He added that the first award will be delivered on the occasion of the association’s 60th anniversary (1957-2017), which falls on April 4.

For the first time, works by 22 late writers who made great contributions to Việt Nam’s literature over the past 60 years will be posthumously granted Devotion Awards.

Some of the works include Hai Trận Tuyến (Two Front Lines), Trong Lòng Hà Nội (In the Heart of Hà Nội), Vào Đời (Make Way in the World) all by writer Hà Minh Tuân (1929-1992). In addition, the association will honour the translated version of the literary masterpiece And Quiet Flows the Don by writer and translator Nguyễn Thụy Ứng (1926-2007) and the poem collection Thơm Ngát Hương Cau (Fragrant the Areca Flowers) by writer Võ Hồng (1921-2013). — VNS
