QUẢNG NINH – Yellow ochna flowers from the Yên Tử sacred mountain and the cherry blossoms from Japan will meet each other again at a festival honouring the two flowers in Quảng Ninh Province next month.

The festival entitled Cherry blossom – Yên Tử ochna flower will take place from March 11-15 in Hạ Long City, the northern province of Quảng Ninh.

The festival will be held at Square 30/10 in Hồng Hải Ward, Hạ Long City.

“Yellow ochna flowers of Yên Tử are a precious kind of flower. Because they only widely flourish in April, we do our best to stimulate the flowers’ blossoms so that they can flourish  in time. We will bring the most beautiful trees to the festival,” said Lê Tiến Dũng, head of the Yên Tử Monuments and National Forests management board.

The event comprises an opening ceremony, performances and art programmes by Vietnamese and Japanese artists; traditional games of the two countries and an exhibition of Japanese cherry blossoms and Yên Tử ochna flowers.

In addition, an exhibition on local products will be on display. Conferences on tourism investment and cooperation between Việt Nam and Japan will take place during the festival.

Under the motto “Cooperation and Development”, the event, as part of National Tourism Year 2017 and the Hạ Long-Quảng Ninh Tourism Week 2017, is expected to help promote Hạ Long City and its strengths of tourism, culture and trade.

This will be the fifth time cherry blossom festival comes to Quảng Ninh and the second time Yên Tử ochna flowers are on the display with cherry blossoms.—VNS
