HCM CITY — The Phương Nam Arts Theatre will collaborate with the Happy Dream Circus Japan to dazzle HCM City with a special circus programme beginning this Friday (December 23).

The Japanese circus troupe will bring to the city 14 international artists from Japan, Venezuela, Argentina, Columbia, Mexico, Ecuador and Russia.

The performers will present a variety of acts, including acrobatics, juggling, globe of death, flying trapeze, circles of death, and Japanese drum performance.

The HCM-City based Phương Nam Theatre will introduce performances that have won awards at international circus festivals.

Artists of both troupes will also perform together in several routines including aerial silk, aerial straps, ring acrobatics, and artistic cycling.

Imai Kenji, consultant for Happy Dream Circus, said at a press conference in HCM City on Monday that after the programme in the city, the company plans to invite Vietnamese performers to perform in Japan.

The Japanese troupe, established in 2003, has many international performers.

The event will take place at the Gia Định Park’s Circus Theatre in Gò Vấp District until February 19. There will be two shows per day.

Tickets can be purchased at the venue. — VNS
