HÀ NỘI —Tourists to Hà Nội have a new destination to discover local culture and beauty: the traditional áo dài (Long Robe) space at 18 Âu Cơ Street, Tây Hồ District.

The space is located inside Lan Hương Fashion House, owned by designer Lan Hương who has a strong attachment to the áo dài and has worked to promote the national costume. She was the first to be awarded the Vietnamese Áo Dài Artisan title.

The space displays samples of áo dài from the Lý, Trần and Nguyễn dynasties to the modern day as well as accessories to go with áo dài such as conical hat, jewellery and wooden shoes.

Hà Nội’s Tourism Department selected Lan Hương Fashion House to introduce visitors to the beauty of traditional long dresses and promote Vietnamese culture, according to Đỗ Đình Hồng, director of the department.

Visitors to the space can explore the process of making áo dài, including designing, tailoring, embroidering and finishing them. They can also talk with artisans from silk and embroidery villages. — VNS
