Renowned works of arts to be auctioned

Three sculptures and 20 paintings by renowned Vietnamese and other Southeast Asian artists will go under the hammer at an auction in HCM City this Saturday.

HCM CITY — Three sculptures and 20 paintings by renowned Vietnamese and other Southeast Asian artists will go under the hammer at an auction in HCM City this Saturday.

The Treasures of the Arts auction, which will be held at Caravelle Saigon hotel, has been jointly organised by Lythi Auction and Lạc Việt Auction Joint Stock Company.

It includes works of arts with high starting bids, such as Vanity Fair by Indonesia painter Affandi (1907-1990), which is estimated at US$180,000 to $200,000, Vietnamese painter Lê Phổ’s (1907-2001) Mẫu Đơn Đỏ (Les Pivoines Rouge) at $30,000 to $35,000 and Vietnamese artist Trần Đông Lương’s (1925-1993) Thiếu Nữ (Young Lady) at $22,000 to $27,000.

A representative of Lythi Auction said all the works of arts being auctioned have clear origins. The unique feature of the auction is that it will give art lovers a chance to view and possess a variety of artwork from different artistic styles and age.— VNS
