HCM City — Singer Hồ Quỳnh Hương will release her first bolero album titled Hương xưa 1 on November 1, marking her return to singing.

The album features 11 famous songs of the 1960s and 1970s, such as Giọt lệ sầu (Sad tears), Mưa nửa đêm (Midnight rain), Chuyến tàu hoàng hôn (Sunset train) and Sao chưa thấy hồi âm (Why haven’t you written?), as well as Thao thức vì em (Can’t sleep because I’m thinking of you) and Kỷ niệm xa bay (Gone memory).

The singer spent four years learning this music and consulting old music lovers to select songs for her album.

“In the last four years, I listened to bolero music more, and the more I listen to it, the more attracted I am towards bolero and the more I love it,” Hương said.

“I hope to give a new lease of life to bolero songs via this album. Besides, one of the special things is the ancient-style setting, costumes in the MVs and the album’s writing by calligraphists,” Hương said.

The idea to record a bolero album was born four years ago when she performed some old music melodies and the audience liked it a lot.

Hương said she liked bolero since she was small when her parents listened to this music.

After introducing her album in HCM City, the singer will also perform her new songs in Hà Nội and other areas. — VNS
