The central province of Ninh Thuận will host the 2016 Grapes and Wine Festival from September 29 to October 1, aiming to promote the province’s people, landscapes and images and introduce local specialties to Vietnamese and foreign tourists.

NINH THUẬN — The central province of Ninh Thuận will host the 2016 Grapes and Wine Festival from September 29 to October 1, aiming to promote the province’s people, landscapes and images and introduce local specialties to Vietnamese and foreign tourists.

The main activities of the festival will include wine and grape fairs, conferences on wine and grapes, tourism promotion, and the Kate festival.

The festival would provide opportunities for grapes farmers, businesses and consumers to meet and seek partners, provincial authorities said. 

It will be held at the April 16 Square, Ninh Chữ – Bình Sơn Beach, Bình Sơn Beach Park, Amanoi Resort, Po Klong Garai Cham Towers, Mỹ Nghiệp Textile Village, Bàu Trúc Pottery Village, Phước Bình National Park, Núi Chuá National Park, Cham Cultural Research Center, and the Ninh Thuận Museum. 

Ninh Thuận has the largest area (over 2,500ha in Ninh Phuoc and Ninh Hai Districts and Phan Rang-Tháp Cham City) under grapes in Việt Nam. 

The festival, which coincides with the annual Katé festival of the Cham, also aims to promote the culture of the Chăm followers of Brahmanism, according to Châu Thanh Hải, director of the Ninh Thuận Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. — VNS
