Vietnamese, Korean pianists to perform at HCM City concerts

Vietnamese and Korean pianists and vocalists will host two concerts in the HCM City this week at the Conservatory of Music and the Opera House.

HCM CITY – Vietnamese and Korean pianists and vocalists will host two concerts in the HCM City this week at the Conservatory of Music and the Opera House.

Pianists Ann Ah-Reum of South Korea and Nguyễn Khánh Hạ of Việt Nam will hold a Piano Recital at the HCM City Conservatory of Music on September 17. The concert will feature compositions for piano written by Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart.

Ah-Reum received recognition at many music competitions and music festivals when she was a child. She studied piano at the Kaywon High School of Arts, and graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in Russia.

The pianist has played music at prestigious venues in Moscow including the Koferens Hall, Myakovsky Hall, Small Concert Hall of Conservatory, and Concert Hall of Moscow State Music Academy.

Hạ began to study piano at the age of six at the conservatory and also graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in 2009. She has performed in the school’s concert hall several times.

The concert will begin at 7:30pm at 112 Nguyễn Du Street in District 1. Tickets are available at the venue’s box office.

The HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) will feature Việt Nam’s leading musicians and singers at A Night of Romantic Songs concert at the Opera House on September 19.

The performance will include 17 romantic songs for chamber music, piano and vocal by Schubert and Schumann, such as Ave Maria, Traumerei, An Die Musik and Military March – Fantasia.

The concert will present HBSO’s soloists, including sopranos Trần Hồng Vy and Phạm Duyên Huyên, baritone Đào Mác, tenor Phạm Trang, and mezzo Nguyễn Thị Thanh Huyền.

Tenor Tuấn Anh and soprano Võ Thụy Ngọc Tuyền will join the event as guest performers. The event will also feature HBSO Woodwind Quintet, Piano Quintet and Chamber Ensemble led by conductor Trần Nhật Minh, deputy head and chorus master of the HBSO Opera.

The concert will start at 8 pm. The Opera House is at 7 Lam Sơn Square in District 1. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketbox.vn. – VNS
