HCM CITY – A concert featuring the works of Johann Sebastian Bach will be staged by the HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) at the Opera House on August 9.

The concert will open with two of the famous six Brandenburg Concertos (No 3 and No 4) by Bach. The Concerto for Violin in D Minor and Concerto for two Pianos in C minor and C major will also be performed.

Musicians from the US International Chamber Players (ICP), including violinist Zhan Shu, cellist Bronwyn Banerd and harpsichordist Elliot Figg, will be featured.

The ICP has had two tours in Việt Nam and performed at the country’s major concert halls. They have featured international artists like conductor David Itkin, violist Susan Dubois and pianist Christoph Hammer.

At the concert, ICP will perform along with both veteran and young artists from the Việt Nam National Symphony Orchestra and Việt Nam National Academy of Music in Hà Nội, including cellist Trần Thị Mơ, violinists Bùi Công Duy and Ngô Hoàng Linh, and pianist Trần Thái Linh.

HBSO musicians, including violinist Tăng Thành Nam and cellist Nguyễn Tấn Anh, will also take part in the concert.

The concert begins at 8pm at the Opera House at 7 Lam Sơn Square in District 1.
