Teen band wins gold prize at Asia Arts Festival in Singapore

The teen band Soul Club of HCM City won the Golden Prize at the Asia Arts Festival in Singapore on Sunday.

HCM CITY— Teen band Soul Club of HCM City won the Golden Prize at the Asia Arts Festival in Singapore on Sunday.

The band performed Vietnamese and English-language songs, including Hello Việt Nam composed by Marc Lavoine, Con Cò (Stork) by musician Lưu Hà An and La La La by Naughty Boy and Sam Smith. 

The Soul Club includes six female and male members, all of whom play different instruments, including piano.

“Through the Asia Arts Festival, we wanted to introduce Việt Nam and its music to the world,” said Vietnamese-Australian singer and producer Thanh Bùi, manager of the Soul Club.  

The 2016 Asia Arts Festival attracted 500 participants of all ages from 14 countries in Asia, including China, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Participants showcased their skills in different genres of performing art.

The jury presented golden prizes for best performances in the categories of solo, duo, trio, and small and large groups.  

The annual event gives opportunities, particularly for young people, to perform and learn from others.—VNS
