Thanh Hoá hosted a record 3.8 million visitors in the first half of 2016, according to the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The total number of visitors to the north central province rose by 13 per cent over the same period last year. Most of the visitors were domestic tourists. But the number of foreign visitors also increased to 68,500, up 19 per cent year-on-year.
The most attractive tourist site in the area is Sầm Sơn Beach. On hot days, the number of beach tourists reaches 60,000-70,000 per day.
To support tourists, the province has set up public hotlines for the offices of the province’s chairman, police, market watch force, hospital and rescue force.
