Đờn ca tài tử (southern folk music) bands from 11 provinces in the Southeastern region of the Mekong greater basin gathered in Bình Dương Province at an event on May 15 to prepare for a festival to be held next year.

BÌNH DƯƠNG — Đờn ca tài tử (southern folk music) bands from 11 provinces in the Southeastern region of the Mekong greater basin gathered in Bình Dương Province at an event on May 15 to prepare for a festival to be held next year.

The event titled Ngọt ngào hương sắc phương Nam was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the provincial People’s Committee between April 14 and May 16.

Music bands from provinces famous for traditional art attended the festival. The provinces include An Giang, Bến Tre, Bình Phước, Đồng Nai, Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, Tây Ninh, Long An, Vĩnh Long, Tiền Giang and Bình Dương. HCM City was also represented.

Organisers said the event was organised to welcome the upcoming national election. This is also preparation for Bình Dương to organise the second national Đờn ca tài tử Festival in 2017. — VNS
