HCM CITY — Talented designer Nguyễn Công Trí’s latest collection, called Lúa (Rice), will open Việt Nam International Week 2016 at the Gem Centre in HCM City tonight.

His collection features 41 designs in Lãnh Mỹ A, a rare traditional silk made by artisans living in the southern province of An Giang.

Trí, a member of the Asian Couture Federation (ACF), left a strong impression on audiences after showing Lúa at the Tokyo Fashion Week 2016 last month.

The opening event will also feature Victoria Secret’s fashion model Sessille Lopez in a show of Harper’s Bazaar by Cory Couture.

The three-day Việt Nam International Fashion Week 2016 highlights the latest collections by both Vietnamese and foreign designers, such as Lê Thanh Hòa, Thủy Nguyễn, Hoàng Minh Hà, Nina Naustda of the UK and Dresscamp of Japan.

Vietnamese fashion brand names such as Luala, IVYmoda and Canifa will also be featured.

The fashion week aims to help Vietnamese designers introduce themselves to the world’s fashion industry. — VNS
