HÀ NỘI — A massive stage performance will be the highlight of the annual Carnival Hạ Long 2016, Vũ Hồng Sơn, chairman of the Quảng Ninh province’s People’s Committee, said.
No longer just a dynamic street parade like the previous years, stellar music performances and dazzling lights will be at the heart of the 90-minute stage show, which is scheduled to take place on April 30 at 8pm at October 30 Square in Hạ Long City, Sơn said at a press conference held recently.
The festival will also feature a high-decibel fireworks display, and about 1,600 artists will participate in the event.
First organised in 2007, the festival has provided special experiences to visitors each year, becoming a unique tourism trademark for the area.
At the press conference, the provincial authorities also said nearly 40 cultural, sports and tourism events will be held during the 10-day-long Hạ Long-Quảng Ninh Tourism Week 2016, including a pageant contest, a photo exhibition, a summer music festival and a beach volleyball tournament, as well as food and walking streets. The tourism week is slated for the end of April. —VNS
