HCM CITY – Trịnh Vĩnh Trinh, younger sister of the late great Trịnh Công Sơn, will sing at the annual memorial concert for the composer in HCM City next week.

She rarely sings at the event.

The 15th concert, titled Nối Vòng Tay Lớn, will see 26 of the legendary composer’s songs performed by popular singers like Thanh Lam, Hồng Nhung, Trần Thu Hà, Quang Dũng, Tùng Dương, Đức Tuấn and Trần Mạnh Tuấn.

Saxophonist An Trần and pianist Tuấn Mạnh will also perform.

The concert at Crescent Park in District 7 should have been organised on April 1, the date of his death, but this year the organisers his family – chose to delay it till April 22 because there will be a programme about Trịnh Công Sơn at the upcoming Festival Huế on May 1, and they wanted the concert to act as preparation for that.

For the last 15 years – the concert earlier used to be held in Bình Quới his family has been providing 40,000 tickets for free.

This year they will provide another 20,000 tickets for the Huế event.

The tickets for the HCM City concert will be given away at 7am today at the Crescent Mall in Phú Mỹ Hưng. — VNS
