Đà Nẵng to hold Quán Thế Âm Festival

One of the country’s largest festivals, the Quán Thế Âm (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva) festival in Đà Nẵng City, will be held on March 25-27 at the Quán Thế Âm Pagoda in Hoà Vang District.

One of the country’s largest festivals, the Quán Thế Âm (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva) festival in Đà Nẵng City, will be held on March 25-27 at the Quán Thế Âm Pagoda in Hoà Vang District.

The Buddhist festival is held on lunar February 17-19, honouring Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva while praying for peace and prosperity.

The festival includes religious ceremonies and festival activities, including a prayer ceremony, a candle-lit flower release, a Zen-tea exhibition, photo and painting exhibitions, calligraphy performances and boat races.  

The pagoda, built in 1957, is located at the foot of the Kim Sơn (Metal Mountain) in the Ngũ Hành Sơn (Five Element Mountains) area. Ngũ Hành Sơn area is about 8km away from the city’s centre and is a wonderful natural landscape with several ancient pagodas, mysterious caves and picturesque scenery.-VNS
