QUANG NINH (VNS) — Vice president Nguyen Thi Doan yesterday inaugurated the Yen Tu Spring Festival 2016 at Yen Tu historical relic zone, Uong Bi City.
The Quang Ninh traditional opera troupe and over 200 amateur performers were participating in the festival.
Numerous rituals such as drums sounding, bell striking, Lunar New Year wishes, and unique values of Yen Tu were presented to participants and visitors at the festival.
After the Tet festival, Yen Tu, which was once a place chosen by national hero and Emperor Tran Nhan Tong (1258-1308) as the meditation destination and the birthplace of the Truc Lam Yen Tu (Yen Tu Bamboo Grove) religious sect has attracted over 250,000 domestic and foreign tourists.
Yen Tu was also once the Buddhism centre of Dai Viet (Great Viet Nam) with plenty of pagoda and temple constructions. The zone has now been restored to welcome Buddhist monks and nuns and visitors from afar.
