Nha Phuong has won the Mai Vang (Golden Ochna) Award for Favourite Actress voted by readers of Nguoi Lao Dong (The Labourer) newspaper. The 26-year-old became popular among audiences for her leading role in the TV series Tuoi Thanh Xuan (Forever Young), co-produced by Viet Nam Television Film Centre and South Korea's CJ E&M Pictures.
How did you feel after winning the Mai Vang Award?
I've worked hard in the film industry for seven years, and have had several minor roles in TV series and movies.
Like any veteran or young performer, I have dreamed of winning a prestigious award like Mai Vang, a prize that has been given for the last 25 years to artists who have made contributions to the nation's cultural and artistic activities.
I realised that to win the award I must work harder and spend more time improving my acting skills.
And now wining the award proves that my effort has been recognised. I appreciate the love from readers who voted for me. Thanks also for the trust of Tuoi Thanh Xuan's producer who believed in me and gave me the leading role, and the film staff and crew who supported me.
What is your plan for 2016?
I'm so lucky because I have been invited to join the second part of Tuoi Thanh Xuan.
The film's script is nearly perfect. The project is expected to begin shooting in April and will air on Viet Nam Television later this year.
I hope the audiences will continue to support the film, and the film crew and myself as well.
Do you have any wishes for the Lunar New Year?
I wish that our country's movie industry will develop strongly in the New Year. More and more quality films will be produced during the year. And young actors and actresses like me will have opportunities to take part in quality projects.
In the New Year, I plan to try my best to learn and improve my acting skills, and prove my talent and passion for film. — VNS
