HA NOI (VNS) — Vietnamese singing star My Tam will receive the "Best Selling Artist of Asia" award at the Big Apple Music Awards 2015.
This was revealed on the fanpage of the Big Apple Music Awards Foundation on Friday.
Tam started singing in 2001 when she was 20 years old and has since won millions of hearts with her emotional and distinctive voice.
She is not only an accomplished singer, but also a composer and lyricist, who has composed her owns hits such as Toc Nau Moi Tram (Brown Hair and Purple Lipstick), Hoa Mi Toc Nau (Brown-haired Nightingale), Uoc Gi (I Wish), Hat Voi Dong Song (Sing with the River), Cay Dan Sinh Vien (The Student's Guitar).
All her albums have had commercial success, including those nominated for the annual Devotion music award, Hoang Hon Thuc Giac (Awakend Sunset, 2005), Vut Bay (Flying High, 2008), Tro Lai (Come Back, 2008).
Dubbed as "V-Pop Queen", My Tam has won three Viet Nam's Devotion Awards, 11 titles "Most Favourite Singer" and three titles "The Face of the Year" of the Blue Way Music Awards.
The singer also has been recognised internationally with the "Best Southeast Asia Act" at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2014, the "World's Best-Selling Vietnamese Artist" at the World Music Awards 2014, and the "Best Asian Artist" at the South Korea's Mnet Asian Music Awards 2012.
At the World Music Awards 2014, she also grabbed two other titles, "World's Best Vietnamese Live Act" and "World's Best Vietnamese Entertainer".
In 2014, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry recognised Tam as the "Best-Selling Vietnamese Artist".
She also given the "Asia's Music Legend" award at the Top Asia Corporate Ball 2014 in Kuala Lumpur last November.
The singer will receive her Big Apple Music Awards at the 16,000-seat Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany, on September 12. — VNS
