DA NANG (VNS) — Over 500 members of Vespa Clubs from Australia, Thailand, Laos, the US and Viet Nam will enjoy a two-day (April 28-29) rendezvous in Da Nang and Hoi An cities.
Event organiser Le Viet Hoa said it would be the fifth such meeting and the largest such event in Viet Nam.
"All scooters made in the1950s or 1960s will hit the road later this month. Vespa club members from Ha Noi, HCM City and Da Nang will celebrate the meeting with series of roadshows in Da Nang and Hoi An," Hoa said.
He said old scooter collectors will share experiences in driving and preserving the Italian-designed scooter.
Hoa said a seminar on traffic safety is also organised during the two-day meeting, while a museum of old scooter is opened in Hoi An City.
The first meeting of the Vespa enthusiasts was held in Da Nang-Hue in 2005; Da Lat in 2006 and 2008; and Ha Noi in 2010. The two-stroke engine vehicle first appeared as a luxury scooter in Viet Nam in late 1950s. — VNS
