VN's first ‘poem video' will help construct bridge for students

Update: March, 05/2015 - 10:02
HA NOI (VNS)  — Poet Doan Ngoc Thu just published a poem video, the first of its kind in Viet Nam.

Titled Bao (Storm), the creation is based on her poetry collection Ve Mot Luot (One-Way Ticket), printed in 2013.

Noted painter Le Thiet Cuong directed the six-minute video, based on her translation of poetic languages into the sounds of daily life and music, accompanied by two main characters: Pham Ky Nam (the man) and Nguyen Thi Thu Trang (the woman).

Thu, also an editor for the news website Vietnam Plus, said the CD's proceeds would be given to authorities in Luc Ngan District's Son Hai Commune in the northern province of Bac Giang, and would fund a bridge connecting Dong Nam Village to the rest of the district. Thu has earned VND200 million (US$9,500) so far.

The hydroelectricity lake Dong Nam Village is located on isolates it from the rest of the district. As a result, students must take two-hour boat rides to get to school. — VNS
