Ngoc Hoi–Dong Da Victory celebrated

Thousands of people attended the Dong Da Hill festival in Ha Noi on January 23 to celebrate the 226th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi–Dong Da Victory. The event takes place annually on the fifth day of the lunar first month and is held in memory of King Quang Trung's great military victory. People from different parts of Ha Noi and provinces nationwide flock to Dong Da Hill, located on Tay Son Street.
The elderly light incense sticks in memory of  King Quang Trung, a Tay Son farmer who later became a national hero and defeated more than 200,000 soldiers of the invading Qing army. Dong Da Hill became famous as one of the nation's most glorious historical sites.

 

The ceremony, where incense sticks are offered, is accompanied by the sound of music and drums.

Seen here is one of the groups from cities and provinces making their offering to the King.
The Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Ha Noi Party Secretary Pham Quang Nghi and many officials from various sectors and ministries attend the festival.
On the occasion, delegates inaugurated the start of renovation and preservation work at the Dong Da Park by cutting a ribbon.
Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung and Government officials are seen lighting incense sticks to the King.
Many people have visited the site since early morning to light incense sticks and make offering to the King.
Dragon dance. The procession of the Thang Long dragon dance troupe is considered by many as one of the most original at the festival.

Singing and dancing performances are also staged to celebrate the anniversary.
Performers recreated the heroic story of King Quang Trung and his troops defeating invaders on the hill in 1789.
A flag performance was also staged.
The festival has become an essential part of the capital's culture.
