Vietnamese stage work acclaimed at ASEAN-China fest

HA NOI (VNS) — The Viet Nam National Drama Theatre's stage work was awarded a prize for excellence at the second ASEAN-China Theatre and Drama Festival wrapped up in Nanning, China, on Tuesday.

The play Chuyen Chang Dung Sy (The Story of A Valiant Man) was staged for children, and adapted by veteran director Anh Tu from the popular epic Dam San of the E De ethnic group in the Central Highlands.

Leading artists Le Ngoc, Ta Tuan, Tung Lam and Mai Huong also received awards at the festival.

It was staged in Viet Nam for the first time earlier this month.

Last year, another of the theatre's productions Cai Lao Hoan Dong (Rejuvenation) was voted most popular play at the festival. — VNS
