Mexican ballet dancers to tour local cities to celebrate National Day

Update: September, 14/2013 - 09:14
Mexico's dancers will perform folk ballets in Ha Noi, Ha Long and Hai Phong.

HA NOI (VNS)— Beautiful ballet dancers from Mexico promise to entertain audiences in Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Ha Long cities to the fullest with free performances from September 17-21.

The tour will feature typical Mexican ballets such as Danzas de Concheros (Dance of Concheros), Destello Jalisciense, Fiesta de Veracruz and Huapango de Moncayo.

The Concheros is an important traditional dance and ceremony which has been performed in Mexico since the early colonial period. It has strong visual markers of its pre-Hispanic roots with feathered costumes, indigenous dance steps and classic instruments.

Founded in 1987, the Folkloric Ballet of the State of Mexico has represented the country at a huge range of international cultural festivals across the world.

The troupe will first perform at Ha Noi Opera House on September 17, then Viet-Nhat Palace of Culture in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh Province) on September 19 and Hai Phong Opera House on September 20.

The performances aim to celebrate the National Days of Viet Nam and Mexico (both in September) and the 38th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. — VNS
