HCM City goes baroque

HA NOI (VNS)– The full version of the oratorio Messiah by George Frederic Handel, one of the greatest composers of baroque music, will be performed by guest artists from Norway in HCM City next week.

The concert will feature soprano Ditte Marie Brain, alto Siri Torjesen, tenor Magnus Staveland, bass Halvor Melien and 10 artists from the Trondheim Ensemble and the Royal Norwegian Navy Band.

The full version of the oratorio Messiah by George Frederic Handel, one of the greatest composers of baroque music, will be performed by guest artists from Norway in HCM City next week.

Handel's Messiah is one of the masterpieces of choral music. It is performed regularly during the Christmas season.

The HCM concert will be conducted by Lars Notto Birkeland who introduced the opera Dido and Aeneas in Viet Nam last year with the HCM Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO).

The concert will take place at 8pm on May 8 and 9, at HCM City's Opera House, No7 Lam Son Square, District 1, HCM City. Ticket information at http://www.hbso.org.vn. – VNS
