HA NOI (VNS)– A festival showcasing short documentaries will kick off on Friday night at the Ha Noi Goethe Institute.
The three-day Mini Doc Fest is being held for the second time following a successful outing in 2011.
Organised by the institute's Ha Noi documentary laboratory, Hanoi DocLab, the event features documentaries by young Vietnamese filmmakers as well as documentaries from across Southeast Asia.
Veteran documentary-maker Tran Van Thuy's film titled Story of Kindness (1987) will be screened on the opening night at 7pm. On Saturday, Voices from Myanmar, which was presented at the Chopshots Documentary Film Festival 2012 in Jakarta, promises to provide an insight into Myanmar. Different short films will show the beauty and other things in Myanmar.
The highlight of the festival will be screenings of the latest productions of the DocLab Basic Workshop.
The festival will close with several documentaries by young independent Vietnamese filmmakers on Sunday. – VNS
