Cruise tourism has developed rapidly in Viet Nam along with a boom in Southeast Asia.
According to Phan Xuan Anh, chairman of Viet Excursions, cruise lines from the US and Europe are promoting new destinations in Asia, including Viet Nam.The company has seen bookings increase by half during the November 2012-April 2013 tourism season.
Saigontourist Travel Service Co hopes to welcome 130,000 international cruise tourists this year, a year-on-year increase of 25-30 per cent.
Besides cruise ships coming from Asian countries, Saigontourist is also receiving visitors from Europe and many international river-cruise vessels. The company hopes to serve some 80,000 tourists this November-March, mostly from China, coming on cruise ships operated by Star Cruises. — VNS
