Young Japanese writer organises lectures across Viet Nam

HA NOI — Mimi Hachikai, one of Japan's most promising young writers, organised a seminar on contemporary literature and poetry in the capital and Hue City yesterday.

Her travelling lecture will take place in HCM City tomorrow, held free of charge by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Viet Nam.

Hachikai has been involved in writing poetry, novels, text for picture books, translations of foreign picture books and reviews on literature and poetry alongside her lectures.

Her first book of poems, The Position that's Being Moistened Even Now, published when she was a graduate student, won the Nakahara Chuya prize, one of the most prestigious awards for poetry in Japan.-VNS
