British spelunkers find new caves at Phong Nha-Ke Bang park

QUANG BINH — A group of explorers from the British Royal Cave Association discovered seven caves at the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in central Quang Binh Province.

Dr Howard Limbert, head of the exploration group said the discovery was the result of a one-week exploration.

The explores gave names to a few of the new discoveries, including Con Chay Cave, Gio Cave, Hai Cua Cave and Ky Cave.

Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is called the "kingdom of caves". Since 1920, this area has been known for its famous cave system. Phong Nha cave has been known as a tourist destination since 1937. Recently, the cave system has been explored and measured in detail by the British association and the Natural Science College of the Ha Noi National University.-VNS
