HA NOI – Mitsubishi cars assembler Vinastar said it is calling 2,500 Mitsubishi Zingers due to the potential risks from steering defects.
The company said welding failures in the steering column during production may lead to wrong manoeuvrability of the multi purpose vehicle (MPV).
The recall includes Zinger produced between September 4, 2008 and January 11, 2012, the Japan-backed auto assembler said.
Vinastar said it would take about 12 minutes for the inspection of the defects and other 30 minutes for steering column replacement if needed.
The US$53 million company, established in 1994 and based in the southern economic hub of HCM City, has an annual production capacity of 5,000.
Another Japan-invested auto maker, Toyota Viet Nam, earlier this month recalled 72 sedans for transmission replacements due to the wrong kind of transmission fluid used during production. – VNS
