HCM City’s Customs Office said its officers and anti-trafficking police uncovered over 700 kg of African elephant tusks hidden in wood blocks transported via Cát Lái port yesterday.

HCM CITYHCM City’s Customs Office said its officers and anti-trafficking police uncovered over 700 kg of African elephant tusks hidden in wood blocks transported via Cát Lái port yesterday. 

 

The officers inspected two timber containers transported from Africa to the southern province of Bình Dương through Cát Lái port in the afternoon of the same day. 
They found hundreds of ivory inside hollow wood blocks which are 30-40cm wide and over 2m long.

Tâm Phúc Co. Ltd headquartered in Bình Phước is due to receive the goods batch. 
Earlier on October 6, 21, and 26, the customs officers discovered similar cases and seized over 3.5 tonnes of ivory. — VNS
