THUA THIEN-HUE (VNS) — More than 1,500 people took part in a rehearsal on managing typhoon prevention and control initiatives and methods of rescuing people and ensuring public security.

The event was organised today along the Huong River in Hue City.

The participants included a flying squad, provincial police and local residents.

Major General Bui Tien Cam, deputy commander of the flying squad, said the rehearsal was aimed at raising people's awareness on coping with climate change and typhoons and limiting losses. It will also improve leaders' capacity to manage and command.

The rehearsal included moving residents, properties and ships to safer places; saving people adrift on the river; administering first aid to people who had met with an accident; and capturing thieves taking advantage of the bad weather to rob private property. — VNS
