QUANG NGAI (VNS) — The central Quang Ngai Province's forest management department began legal procedures today to shift a grey-shanked douc langur to the northern Ninh Binh Province's Cuc Phuong Endangered Primate Rescue Centre.

The langur, nearly a year old and weighing about 1kg, was handed over by a local man to the forest management department yesterday. The man had captured it in a local forest recently.

The grey-shanked douc langur is a species native to Viet Nam and is included in the list of endangered species in the Viet Nam Red Book. It is also one of the world's 25 most endangered primates. — VNS
