Fire destroys forest in Ca Mau Province

CA MAU (VNS) — Some 12 hectares of cajuput forest were destroyed yesterday in a fire in U Minh Ha forest.

The fire, which is believed to have begun at noon, was stamped out after three hours due to the efforts of forestry management force, forest owners and local residents.

The forest is managed by the 402 farm of the Army General Logistics Department, the Military Region 9, in Khanh Binh Tay Commune, Tran Van Thoi District, in the southernmost province of Ca Mau.

The cajuput forest was planted 9 years ago.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. — VNS
